Marsilea aegyptiaca Willd.

This species is native to S Greece, N Africa, extending to Sahara, S Africa, Madagascar, Arabian Peninsula, E European, Russia, N Xinjiang and N India. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There is one species of Marsilea occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Semi-aquatic , heterosporous fern . Fronds leaflets 2-12 (-30) x 2-12(-25) mm , glabrous or hairy , extremely variable , broadly obdeltate to narrowly obtriangular , with the outer edge rounded and entire , 2-lobed or many-lobed to deeply crenate . Spore sacs (sori) thick , solitary or more often in dense groups of 2 to many clustered at the very base of the stipe , ± quadrangular with a single conical to acute tooth , the lateral walls with a single vertical furrow . (Ref . Miller & Cope ; 1996) .
