Small perennial fern ; up to 30 cm high with tufted fronds and linear , pale brown rhizome-scales . Fronds shortly spaced , arising in clusters from creeping rhizomes , with very delicate , light green fronds , deeply dissected , black and wiry fronds rachis ; pinnules alternate , fan or wedge-shaped . Spore sacs (sori) borne on the inner surface of the folded back leaf edges . (Ref . Miller & Cope ; 1996) .
