Hemionitis scioana (Chiov.) Christenh.

This species is native to Ethiopia, extending to Kenya, Socotra, S Arabian Peninsula and NW India. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 5 species of Hemionitis found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Perennial fern with reddish brown scales , and dark brown stip , shiny , with reddish brown scales . Fronds tufted ; lamina 2-3-pinnate-pinnatifid , narrowly ovate or ovate to pentagonal , green above , powdery-white (at least in the young fronds) beneath . Spore sacs (sori) marginal , interrupted ; sporangia dark brown or black , glossy ; soral flaps membranous . (Ref . Miller & Cope ; 1996) .
