Xanthosoma sagittifolium (L.) Schott

This species is native to Costa Rica, extending to S Tropical America; introduced elsewhere. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There is one known species of Xanthosoma occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Herbaceous perennial ; up to to 2 m tall , arising from multiple underground pale brown tubers with pink , yellow or white flesh . Stems short , thick , globose to cylindrical . Leaves huge , up to 90 cm long and 60 cm wide , dark green or purplish , sagittate , arrow shaped , wavy margins ; petiole to 1 . 5 m long , attached at the base of the leaf . Inflorescences in a spadix . Flowers greenish-white , boat-shaped spathe enclosing a white spadix . (Ref . https://en . wikipedia . org) .
