Washingtonia filifera (Rafarin) H.Wendl. ex de Bary

This species is native to S California, extending to SW Arizona and Mexico (N. Baja California). (Ref. POWO; 2023). There is one known species of Washingtonia occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

A medium to large evergreen tree ; up to 15-20 m tall with a sturdy columnar trunk . Stems solitary , columnar , upright , covered with a skirt of marcescent leaves . Leaves 90-180 cm long , palmate , waxy , gray-green , large , rounded ; petioles split , armed with curved teeth . Inflorescences in huge sprays , up to 5 m long . Flowers bisexual , creamy-white , tubular . Fruit spherical to pear-shaped , brownish-black to black when ripe . (Ref . https://www . gardenia . net) .
