Asparagus capitatus subsp. gracilis Browicz

This subspecies is native to N Oman, extending northwards to SE Iran, estwards to W Himalaya. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 4 species of Asparagus found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Large bushy shrub ; up to to 2 m high , without spines . Stems ascending , not twining nor climbing , slender , much branched , weak , smooth , green , glabrous ; lateral stems arising almost at right angles to the main stem . Cladodes in fascicles of 3-6 , 6-16 mm , ± flexible , subulate . Inflorescences solitary , axillary or axillary and terminal on small branches ; pedicels articulated below the middle ; bracts ± 2 mm , acute , glabrous , membranous . Flowers greenish to white , hermaphrodite ; perianth greenish to white , ± 3 mm long , oblong to elliptic ; stamens shorter than the perianth ; ovary 3-locular . Fruit berry , ± 4 mm in diameter , 1-seeded . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 4) .
