Short-lived bulbous perennial , glabrous . Bulb globose or ovoid , 1 . 8-2 cm in diameter , covered with a tunic of white scales . Leaves 2-3 , all basal , (5-)10-16 x 0 . 7-1 cm , linear to linear-lanceolate , somewhat fleshy , arising 2-3 cm above the ground , twisting once , erect to spreading and touching the ground . Scape single (rarely more) , 8-9 cm , bearing 2 flowers (rarely more) ; flora bracts 2 , scarious , 5-7 mm , triangular , acute or acuminate , enlarging in fruit . Flowers hermaphrodite , whitish to yellowish green with a dark green median stripe ; perianth tubular with six segments , the outer and inner equal , whitish yellow to yellowish green with a dark green median stripe ; perianth segments 6 . 5-7 x 2 mm , oblong , obtuse but with a small acute tip , erect ; stamens 6 , included ; style single with a rounded stigma placed below the anthers .
