Muscari longipes Boiss.

This species is native to Central Türkiye, extending to Sinai, Iran and Arabia; widely cultivated in many countries. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There is one species of Muscari occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Perennial bulb ; up to 40 cm tall . Bulb with a thin greyish papery skin . Leaves 3-5 , green , erect to spreading , 15-30 x 1-1 . 5 cm , linear-lanceolate to falcate , glabrous , margins smooth or scabrid . Scape about as long as or eceeding the leaves . Inflorescences in a terminal conical raceme , 6-10 cm , becoming lax in fruit ; pedicels 5-15 mm , patent to ascending , longest in fruit . Flowers purple , constricted , no scent . Sterile flowers few , short pedicellate , purple . Fertile flowers purplish blue in bud turning greenish purple or greenish yellow when mature with pale purple lobes ; perianth 5-7 mm , oblong-urceolate , contacted above ; lobes small ; stamens 6 , attached to perianth tube . Fruit capsule , 9-10 mm , almost elliptic , emarginated to apiculate , persistent . Seeds black . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 4) .
