A succulent , perennial herb . Stems to 40 cm long . Leaves very succulent , rigid with a smooth surface , light green copiously covered with pale spots 5-8 in a dense rosette , narrowly deltoid with rounded apex , to 80 mm long and 15 mm broad at base , margins and apex bearing many soft teeth 0 . 5 mm and 1-2 mm apart . Inflorescences simple or with a short lateral branch , pointing or arched downward , to 5-25 cm long ; racemes always pointing or curving obliquely downward , conical , rather dense , 30-60 mm long with up to 50 flowers ; bracts 4 mm long , 2 . 5 mm broad ; pedicels 4-5 mm long . Flowers whitish , glabrous , 14 mm long , cylindrical , 4 mm in diameter throughout their length , outer segments free for 6 mm . Fruit capsule , 10 mm . Sap clear , drying yellow . (Ref .
