Inflorescences solitary in the leaf axils . Flowers minute , stalkless , green . Male flowers 2-5 x 0 . 8-3 mm , enclosed by 2 scales . Female flowers 2-5 mm long , naked ; ovary 1-3 . 5 x 0 . 3-1 . 9 mm ; stigma 3-lobed . Fruit 3 mm , ellipsoid , reddish-brown at maturity .
