An erect perennial herb ; up to 20 cm tall , with an ovoid corm covered with fibrous tunics . Stems erect to ascending , slender , weak . Leaves 2-3 , with long , sheathing base , linear , canaliculate , procumbent or ascending . Inflorescences in 1-4 compact cymes , each with 2-4 flowers . Flowers deep lilac/blue with a white throat , no scent ; perianth segments bluish purple , usually with a white or yellow patch in the centre of the outer segments ; stamens 3 , inserted at throat of tube ; stylar branches 3 , petioloid , each with 2 triangular lobes at apex ; stigma on lower surface of stylar arms at base of the 2 lobes . Fruit capsule , cylindrical to ellipsoid , with persistent 2 cm long beak . Seeds 1 . 5 mm , brown , ellipsoid , compressed . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 4) .
