Juncus fontanesii subsp. pyramidatus (Laharpe) Snogerup

This subspecies is native to Central & E Mediterranean to Iraq and Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 3 species of Juncus found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Stems moderately stout , scarcely at all striated , erect or long and decumbent ; sterile stems long , sterile , snaking on the ground and rooting at the nodes , 3-5 , rarely 20 decimeters long ; fertile stems short and ascending . Leaves with evident transverse septa , up to 10 cm long and more , 3–5 to a stem , short , subulate . Inflorescences with about ten flower heads with 6-20 flowers . Flowers many to a head ; bracts ovate , acuminate , pale green , as long as the flowers ; perianth-segments lanceolate , very acute , brownish-green , 1/6 in . long ; stamens 6 .
