Leaves with evident transverse septa , up to 10 cm long and more , 3–5 to a stem , short , subulate . Inflorescences with about ten flower heads with 6-20 flowers . Flowers many to a head ; bracts ovate , acuminate , pale green , as long as the flowers ; perianth-segments lanceolate , very acute , brownish-green , 1/6 in . long ; stamens 6 .
