Inflorescence of 2-12 digitate racemes , the axis up to 5 cm long in robust specimens ; racemes stiff , the spikelets paired and overlapping by two-thirds their length on a winged rhachis with triquetrous midrib . Spikelets narrowly elliptic , sharply acute . Fruit elliptic in outline , grey to light brown .
